Designed to increase the energy efficiency of your space as well, these blinds will continue to do their job for many many years. The warranty period of most skylight blinds is an impressive 5-years.
Another feature of a skylight blind is its ability to fold compactly when in the open position. This means that the skylight blind takes up minimal stacking space in your window.
LIGHT FILTERING SKYLIGHT BLINDS
Skylight blinds come in different opaqueness factors. A light filtering option allows in some light when the blind is closed without blocking out all the natural light.
Light filtering skylight blinds are especially suited for living spaces. The double-pleated option offers the customer increased insulation properties without sacrificing the amount of light that penetrates.
Light Filtering skylight blinds are fully washable. The customer can use water freely in order to wash the blinds.
BLOCKOUT SKYLIGHT BLINDS

SKYLIGHT BLINDS IN CUSTOM SHAPED WINDOWS
Even custom shaped skylight blinds are easy to cover using a Honeycomb / Duette Blind.
Sometimes a combination of blind shapes will be used in a single window to ensure a tight, custom made fit.
INDOOR / OUTDOOR SKYLIGHT BLINDS
Skylight blinds are a great option for skylights indoors or even in a patio ceiling.
Because the light filtering options specifically can be immersed in cold water, they are ideal for outdoor applications.
We do not recommend skylight blinds to be subjected to harsh weather conditions, however, for a covered patio they are ideal.
CUSTOMISATION AND INSTALLATION
MOTORISED SKYLIGHT BLINDS
Automated skylight blinds or motorized skylight blinds are ideal solutions for windows too high to reach with a telescopic wand . Motorized skylight blinds are effortlessly operated with the touch of a button.
Motorized blinds are available with battery-powered or a/c outlet powered options. Solar stickers are a wonderful option as the blind is motorized without needing an outside power source. A sticker of around 30cm wide is applied to the skylight window to ensure a constant charge.
WAND OPERATED SKYLIGHT BLINDS
Skylight blinds come with a telescopic extendable wand.
Conveniently, a wall clip can be ordered as an addition to ensure the wand does not get misplaced.
SIDE CHANNELS ON SKYLIGHT BLINDS
A U-Channel is an add-on that can be used to fill the gap on the sides of an uneven window opening.
Charged per meter, this channel can effectively hide gaps between the blind and the window reveal.
TENSION STRINGS ON SKYLIGHT BLINDS
Because a skylight blind is horizontal, there are tension strings that run along the length of the blind in order to ensure the blind material doesn’t sag.
Because of this system, Duette / Honeycomb skylight blinds can be used for slanted windows as well.
SKYLIGHT BLINDS – PLEAT SIZES
Skylight blinds are available in 25mm. And 32mm. pleats. The larger the cell / pleat, the better the skylight blind will insulate. The pocket forms an internal layer, helping to keep the room cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Different color and range options differ according to which pleat size the customer chooses. The 25mm. pleat size is a more cost-effective option.
The double-pleated architella range is a superb option for skylight blinds. Slightly more expensive, this blind does double the amount of insulation. The double pleats create two cells inside the blind to create the most protection from temperature. There are many color and fabric options in this range and we do recommend it as the gold standard for skylight blinds.
OPENING OPTIONS FOR SKYLIGHT BLINDS
The customer is able to customize each and every skylight blind. You will be able to choose from which side the blind opens or stacks. There might be a size limitation as skylight blinds are limited to 1500mm. width. This means that a very wide skylight window might be split into two blinds.
It is important to determine what times of day and from what angle the sun enters the room.
Should the afternoon sun be the biggest issue, then the blind should open from the opposite direction. This will allow for the skylight blind to be partially opened each day without the sun shining directly into the room. In other cases the sun enters from all angles at different times of day. The opening side may be less relevant in this instance.
BENEFITS OF SKYLIGHT BLINDS
SKYLIGHT BLINDS OFFER UV PROTECTION
One major reason to ensure a quality skylight blind is that it will effectively protect your furniture, flooring and artwork from fading.
The UV properties will ensure your possessions will last for many years to come.
SKYLIGHT BLINDS OFFER ENERGY SAVINGS
Skylight blinds can help to reduce your cooling and heating costs dramatically.
Because of the air pocket created in between the pleats, they will keep your room at a pleasant temperature.
If you are using an air conditioner or heater, the skylight blinds will reduce the strain on these appliances. This means that they will work more efficiently and will cost you less to run.
As the skylight blinds insulate so remarkably well, they will also compensate for air leakage that inevitably enters the room between window panes. Specifically for homes with older metal window frames, skylight blinds will ensure the air that enters through the window does not make its way into your home. When heating or cooling the room, be sure to close your skylight blind.
