Why repair

Don’t replace what you can repair.

Repairing your existing blinds is generally more economical than replacing them — and it keeps your fabric and fit consistent. If your blinds are beyond repair, we’ll tell you straight, and give you both a repair quote and an alternative quote for new blinds so you can choose.

  • Generally more economical than replacement
  • Same fabric, same fit — no awkward mismatch
  • Honest advice on cost-effectiveness

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Everything else you might want to know.

What can be repaired?

General wear and tear and common usage issues are usually repairable. Among the most frequent we see:

  • Correcting skew issues during raising or lowering
  • Ensuring venetian blinds maintain upright position
  • Replacing missing parts like valance clips and bottom bar buttons
  • Repairing damaged valances and broken slats
  • Fixing or replacing broken toggles and tassels
  • Customising width, including tile cut-outs
  • Restringing worn strings and installing new ladder string
  • Roller blind issues with staying open or operating correctly
  • Repairing or replacing broken chains and bottom bars
  • Replacing missing parts like chains and end caps
  • Resolving sliding and tilting issues with vertical blinds
  • Replacing broken or missing bottom chains and weights
  • Tilting, upright position and lowering issues on honeycomb blinds
  • Repairing or replacing broken cords and mechanisms
  • Bottom bar damage
  • Re-stringing and operational repairs on roman blinds
  • Replacing broken dowels, bottom bars and damaged velcro
  • Repairing or replacing damaged chains and snapped strings
  • Missing O-Rings and other components
Can the damage be too extensive?

Sometimes the damage is what insurers call “beyond economic repair” — fixing it would cost more than replacing it. In those cases we quote you for both options side by side so you can see the numbers and decide.

We’d rather lose the job than sell you a repair that doesn’t add up. Repairs are usually the cheaper route, but if a new blind makes more sense, we’ll tell you straight.

If repair costs change during the job — for example, we open it up and find more wear than the photo showed — we’ll let you know before doing more work, unless you’ve told us to go ahead regardless.

Can blinds be washed?

Yes — and many of the blinds brought in for repair benefit from a clean at the same time. We propose a thorough cleaning service alongside repairs so blinds not only function like new but also look rejuvenated. Our team handles each blind with care and professionalism, especially older, more fragile materials like vertical blinds.

Cleaning blinds is a specialised task — we use the right techniques and cleaners to prevent damage, and we’ll advise honestly on feasibility before starting.

Where do you do the repairs?

We mostly come to you. Small repairs are done on site at your home. For bigger jobs — or if you want the blind cleaned too — we take it back to our Sydenham workshop, repair it there, and bring it back fitted. You’re welcome to drop blinds off at our office if it’s easier for you.

How long do repairs take?

It varies by complexity and parts availability. We’ll give you a realistic timeline together with your quote, so you know what to expect before you commit.
